Child Sponsorship
Youth Release in partnership with the HCS has just launched a Child Sponsorship Program. Our aim is to provide vocational training to an initial 17 candidates that will enhance their opportunities to gain employment. This program promotes self sufficiency and is sustainable. It is thought by giving one child this opportunity, the effect of this will reflect on their families and their community as a whole. For more information on the project and how you can get involved please click here. Also details of our previous campaigns can be found on our Past Publications Page .
The Youth Centre
On August 1st 2011, the doors of the Youth Release youth centre were finally opened. We have taken over an old leprosy clinic that is located in the Gende Tesfa community or in English 'The Village of Hope'. Since its establishment there are 275 children and adolescents enrolled in the programs being offered at the youth centre. The youth centre is now providing many services including: educational, health and tutorial support, counselling services and family reintegration programs. The present project aims to provide educational support for 300+ children who have discontinued their education or are about to discontinue due to lack of educational support. The school reintegration or educational support program gives opportunities to children who live and work on the street and for children from vulnerable households.
